So the story unveils with the charming British Groom himself, a 5 time world record holder, flaunting nothing but his heart of Gold to warrant a persistent persona, with which he pummeled team MM. And I say pummeled, coz that’s what he did to ensure his I DO would truly be that unparalleled, dreamy, mind-blowing ceremony that comes but once in a lifetime. Gracing his side is his stunning Bride, part Norwegian/ part Sri Lankan, who having visited Sri Lanka to explore her roots, thus decided to plant her own in Mother Lanka’s shores.
As the journey begins, the lovebirds and the guests were hosted on board the majestic Viceroy Special, Lanka’s solitary steam train tracing its roots back to the British rule of Ceylon. Privately chartered (rightfully so) for Jamie & Kristina’s big day, it was a celebration on its own as 150 guests voyaged along the smashing locomotive all the way to the Southern Shores of Mirissa.
Come, the nuptial Ceremony that is sure to leave you breathless..
Privileged to have been dressed and adorned in all her bridal elegance in Sri Lanka’s only Private Island; the ravishing Bride emerged from the Tabrobane Island .. in a boat! Preceded by the glowing bridesmaids that shone like crystals against the emerging sunset, onlookers gazed in amazement as the Groom whisked off his lady in white, off the boat and onto the shore. The Ceremony that would soon follow took place on the shores of the mainland and was thus adorned with nature’s amazing backdrop; an awe-inspiring Sunset.
And so the party and glitterati consummated in the most mindboggling adventure that found the British visitors bouncing off to the Reception site in Mirissa, not in limousines, but in 80 groovy tuk-tuks. Break free, break the norm, let your wild side out .. call it what you may, but the vivacious Mr & Mrs themselves led the Bridal Party to their final destination in a grand white tuk-tuk clad in frangipani flowers.
Up on a cliff stood the exclusive private villa owned by a former President of Sri Lanka, which welcomed the Bridal Party with its immaculate view of the Indian Ocean and Mirissa Harbour. From traditional dancers, customised fire dancers on stilts to an enormous bespoke Snake-Table that stretched from one end of the property to the other; it was a party that glistened and stunned all who graced it. With elegant décor that comprised flowers in silver glitter boxes, crystal candelabras and a chill out zone strewn with sunbeds and garden loungers; the party spilled over to the wee hours of the morning post the magnificent feast, a stunning fireworks display and live music.
And so as the glorious day of Impossibilities was laid to rest, team MM looks back on the months of preparation that went into making this magical day a reality. Inundated with skype calls that never seemed to end, hours of face to face meetings along with hundreds of emails all resulted in nothing short of a glorious day filled with a myriad of magical moments for Jamie & Kristina Walker.
