NIGEL & DOROTA
A sheer tropical romantic fantasy, Nigel and Dorota’s wedding was held at Sri Lanka’s only private island. It was an exclusive and intimate travel-themed ceremony that’s usually only seen in movies! A majestic elephant wearing a wedding banner greeted guests on the beach, who then waded through the shallow water to the island, which was a definite highlight of the occasion. The bride wore an incomparable two-piece wedding dress that she designed, while her maid of honor was clad in a gorgeous light blue, and the best man donned linen shorts and sports jackets giving whole new meaning to smart-casual. Gold tiffany chairs lined the aisle, and the couple exchanged their vows on the balcony of the island, under the shade of a natural canopy provided by a large tree. The reception was an elegant four-course affair that was held in the foyer of the villa. The hanging candles in glass balls, flowers in tall glass cylinders, glass table runners, votives, and gold charger plates added an air of intricacy to the event. The wedding cake was a two-tier chocolate and vanilla cake in light blue that was decorated in gold Mehendi design and set on a gold base with four elephants. The stationery was done in the same light powder blue as the cake, while the invites stayed true to the travel theme, and were cleverly designed like boarding passes. The memorable night ended on a high as everyone took to the dance floor and watched a mesmerizing firework display by the water on the island’s jetty.
